Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is using former First Lady Barbara Bush to attack her son’s presidential ambitions.
Trump released an attack ad against Jeb Bush on Monday via Instagram where it showed a clip of Barbara in a 2013 interview on The Today Show saying that her son should not run for the presidency.
“No, I really don’t. I think it’s a great country, there are a lot of great families, there are a lot of people out there who are very qualified. We’ve had enough Bushes,” Barbara said in the clip. She had been asked if she wanted to see Jeb run in the interview.
The viral clip ends with the words, “Mother knows best Jeb!”
Barbara walked back those statements in February of this year.
