Actor Ted Danson remembers the time he tried to ‘ditch’ Bill Clinton, talks spending the night in the White House

Actor Ted Danson once played “ditch the president” with then-President Bill Clinton so he didn’t have to hear about “the peace process in Ireland.”

Danson appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Wednesday night and discussed his family’s close relationship with the Clintons. Apparently, Danson’s wife was even walked down the aisle by Bill Clinton at their wedding and the couple once got to spend the night at the White House.

During this visit, Danson and his wife would sometimes hide when they would see Clinton coming around because he was so “energetic.”

“We’d see him come around the corner, and it would be like, ‘Oh, dear lord’ — because he’d stop and you would talk, and he’d talk about the peace process in Ireland in the most fascinating way, but you would be standing in one place for, like, two and a half hours listening to him,” Danson said. “He’s so astoundingly brilliant, but I’m like, ‘I really want to go to bed’ in one part of my brain and ‘No, you idiot! It’s the president!’ in the other. But I really want to go to bed, so we started ditching the president.”
