Although Stephen Colbert is clearly no fan of the National Rifle Association, his segment on the NRA’s new “firearm friendly” versions of classic fairy tales is completely true — and hilarious.
As the Washington Post reported, titles such as Little Red Riding Hood (Has a Gun) and Hansel and Gretel (Have Guns), are advertised on the NRA’s family website.
Colbert did a speed read of the first book, which involved Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother squaring off against the wolf with her shot gun “to protect herself and her home.”
But Colbert doesn’t think the NRA should stop there. He suggested they rewrite all of the classics, such as Of Mice and Men, where Lenny learns to stop squeezing a puppy so hard after the puppy pulls a gun on him. His other ideas included, Everybody Poops… Involuntarily, After Being Shot; and, To Kill a Mockingbird: Now More of a Hunting Manual.
