President Trump oftentimes maligns news organizations and calls them “Fake News” if there’s a report or story written that he disagrees with or dislikes. However, several publications were caught spreading fake news after publishing a story about Kim Jong-un and North Korea blasting Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for describing the dictator as a “crazy fat kid.”
“China is the one, the only one, that can control Kim Jong Un, this crazy fat kid that’s running North Korea,” McCain said in an MSNBC interview.
Publications like USA Today and CNBC reported that the North Korean government expressed outrage over Sen. McCain’s comments, which is true, however, they misrepresented the North Korean’s statements from a parody Twitter account. DPRK News Service on Twitter has been reported by the Washington Post as a parody account, but it isn’t explicitly stated in its bio, nor is it verified by the social media site.
DPRK News Service tweeted that McCain is a “noted idiot.”

Once the account learned of their tweet making it to USA Today, it mocked the publication.

Despite the fact that these statements from the North Korean government are fake, they were quite displeased with the senator’s comments.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency released a statement on behalf of the Foreign Ministry saying that McCain “hurt [his] dignity” again. They also ripped Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for wanting to re-list North Korea as a “terror-sponsor” calling such insults a “declaration of war.”
“As such guys as John McCain and Ted Cruz made a provocation tantamount to declaration of war against the DPRK, the DPRK will take steps to counter it,” the statement read. “They will have to bitterly experience the disastrous consequences to be entailed by their reckless tongue-lashing and then any regret for it will come too late.”
Sen. McCain responded to the DPRK’s statement tweeting:
What, did they want me to call him a crazy skinny kid? https://t.co/Ym3juRfBev

He even had more fun out of the fiasco by posting a video of his favorite replies.
