The fantasy of Vice President Joe Biden challenging Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary just became real.
According to National Review, Josh Alcorn, a financial director and senior advisor to the late Beau Biden who is now working on the Draft Biden Super PAC, was overheard on an Amtrak train talking loudly about the vice president’s campaign plans.
Passengers on the train, one of whom said Alcorn was speaking so loudly it was difficult to work, heard him say that Joe Biden will, in fact, run for president in 2016.
“I am 100 percent that Joe is in,” bystanders heard Alcorn say over the phone.
He also said that he was unsure when the vice president will announce but thinks it will be mid-October.
Bystanders said that he also talked about testing ads to convert Clinton supporters to support Joe Biden, and said that the money will be lined up when Biden announces.
According to the passengers, Alcorn does not believe Joe Biden can win Iowa or New Hampshire, his goal is do well enough and win in Nevada and South Carolina.
Draft Biden said that the overheard comment about Joe Bidne being “100 percent” was “ridiculous” considering the Super PAC is not in direct contact with the vice president, but Alcorn did not deny that he made the comments when asked by National Review.
