Hundreds of posters advertising a visit by Rick Santorum to George Washington University have been vandalized on two recent occasions.
The posters promote an upcoming Nov. 29 event, Locked and Loaded with Rick Santorum, where the former Pennsylvania senator and presidential candidate promises to address “the importance of the Second Amendment and [debunk] liberal gun myths.”
The school’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter spent several hours putting up the posters, only to return the next morning and find every single poster missing.
“Last night at GW, leftist students tore down every single one of the hundreds of posters which GW YAF put up for Locked and Loaded with Rick Santorum. This is not the first time this has happened, leftist students also tore down every single one of our posters a few days ago,” YAF club member Diego Rebollar explained in a Facebook post.
“Liberals always preach about how important it is to be tolerant and open minded,” Rebollar continued. “The hypocrisy of these students is astounding, and the silence of GW’s administration + GWPD is deafening. The GW administration and all students must condemn this blatant attempt to suppress and silence conservative speech on campus. Instead of acting like fascists, practice the tolerance that you preach!”
While the motive for removing the posters has not been confirmed, Rebollar believes it is due to political disagreement
“That’s not expression, that’s fascism,” he said on social media.
George Washington University did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.
