While prohibition is a thing of the past, people are becoming more and more creative with how they sneak the sweet nectar of alcohol into forbidden places.
Building on the popularity of Apple’s iPhone, Daniel Novaes and Ethan Hou, two self-proclaimed “young entrepreneurs,” created the iFlask – a replica of the popular mobile phone that holds up to five ounces of alcohol instead of 16 gigabytes of data. It even features a bottle opener on the back of the “smart flask.”
The flask, which is made of Polyethylene and polycarbonate, is meant to withstand “anything besides Rebecca Black’s singing,” the iFlask website boasts.
Novaes and Hou tried to raise funds for the iFlask on Kickstarter last year, but failed. Undaunted, they continued with their vision – sans beer goggles – and made the iFlask available for sale online at the discounted price of $24.95.
The iFlask isn’t the first unique canteen created so alcoholics and college students alike can keep chosen poison in close proximity. There is also the Flask Tie, which can be worn around the neck, to the controversial pill bottle flasks sold by Urban Outfitters.
Purchasers of the iFlask are advised, however, to drink responsibly when using the flask. It should also be noted that the iFlask logo is scrawled across the back of the pseudo-phone in plain view, so it’s probably not a good idea to show it off in a college dorm or crowded bar.
