Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake honor rap with song and dance mashup

From Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five to Eminem, Nelly and Macklemore, talk show host Jimmy Fallon and pop star Justin Timberlake paid a tribute to the history of rap on NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” last Friday. The nearly six minute song and dance featured the pair moving quickly and seamlessly through the past 30 years in what is their fourth installment of “The History of Rap.”

“The last few times you’ve been on this show, we’ve done the history of rap together,” Fallon said to Timberlake who was seated at the host’s desk. Timberlake got a glimmer in his eye and the audience caught on that a fourth installment was about to begin.

The pair took to an open dance floor, accompanied by the “Late Night” band “The Roots,” and declared “This is the last time we do this… until the next time we do this.” They sang snippets of rap songs beginning with Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five’s “White Lines” and ending with MackLeMore’s “Thrift Shop.”

Enjoy!
