President Obama may have again raised the ire of humanities majors.
On Tuesday, the president backhanded the field of study, attributing his decision to become a humanities major to the fact that he “misspent” his high school years and found that “you could kind of talk your through (humanities) classes, which you couldn’t do in Math and Science.”
However, he added that “a great liberal arts humanities education is still critically important because… one of the most important skills you have is your ability to work with people and to communicate clearly and effectively.”
And humanities majors take a collective sigh of relief.
In February, the president apologized to an art history professor who took issue with his remark that art history majors earn less than those with jobs in skilled manufacturing or trade.
