Maxine Waters 2020? “If the millennials want me to”

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) [a.k.a. “Auntie Maxine”] has become such a vocal opponent to the Trump administration that many now believe she might throw her hat into the ring for the 2020 presidential election.

According to the Daily Caller, Congresswoman Waters made a scheduled appearance in Stafford County, New Hampshire over the weekend, but said on Thursday ahead of the visit that it has nothing to do with running in 2020. However, if millennials gave her a boost of confidence, she’d consider it.

“I’m just going up to do a county Democratic thing. That’s all,” Waters dismissed. She then said laughing, “I’m not running for anything but my own seat. I don’t have any presidential aspirations. If the millennials want me to do it, I’d do it, though.”

Congresswoman Waters’ office has yet to respond to a request for comment clarifying her statement.

Waters is serving her 14th term in Congress and was one of the first congressional members to call for President Trump’s impeachment because of his alleged ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. She even has a tweet pinned to the top of her Twitter page introducing unsuspecting users and fans to Trump’s “KremLINKlan.”

“Mr. Speaker, my position against this president and his administration is clear. I oppose this president. I do not honor this president. I do not respect this president.”
