In his latest attempt to distance himself from the faltering recall effort in Wisconsin, President Obama chose to leave himself out of a campaign video in support of Democratic candidate, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
In a video ad released by the Obama reelection campaign on the morning of the recall election, President Obama is nowhere to be seen throughout the entire video.
His name is not even mentioned until a last second screen shot, which features an Obama Biden 2012 slogan.
Instead, the ad focuses on Laura H., a Wisconsin citizen who is attempting to do some last minute campaigning for Tom Barrett.
The video shows Laura going door-to-door, pleading that, “It’s time that we get out and make that last crucial conversation to really make those votes come out on June 5.”
Demonstrating the lack of passion in the Barrett campaign, Laura resorts to the weak strategy of claiming, “We need to get our rights back, we need to get our state back.”
In an embarrassing attempt to scrape together last-minute support for Barrett’s campaign, Lackluster Laura urges viewers, “Sign up for a shift, knock doors, and make phone calls. Talk to your friends and elect Tom Barrett.”
Until recall election eve, President Obama has been silent on the Wisconsin recall effort, waiting until the eve of the election to issue a personal message of support for Tom Barrett via Twitter.
