Sen John Cornyn, R-Texas, told  Attorney General Eric Holder Tuesday the time for his resignation has come during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

The senator  accused Holder of purposely covering up details of “Operation Fast and Furious”, stating to Holder that, “You won’t tell the truth about what you knew and when you knew it.”

Cornyn tore into Holder for failing    to respond to a letter asking for information about gunwalking tactics in his state.

He went further suggesting that Holder has an honesty problem.

“You won’t tell the truth about what you knew and when you knew it,” Cornyn said. “You’ve violated the public trust in my view by failing to perform the duties of your office. So, Mr. Attorney General it is with more sorrow than with regret and anger that I would say you leave me with no alternative but to join those who call on you to resign your office.”

Holder’s testimony comes just one day after the House Oversight Committee scheduled a vote to decide whether or not to hold him in contempt for failure to cooperate on a subpoena.

Responding to such allegations, Holder told Cornyn that his statement was “almost breathtaking in its inaccuracy”, and also accused him of “political point-making.”
