Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that 50 people have died and an estimated 406 people are injured and have been transported to various hospitals in the area following the largest mass shooting in U.S. history at a Las Vegas concert on Sunday night.
Shots were fired around at a crowd of more than 22,000 people attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival around 10:08 pm on Sunday. Las Vegas police identified the suspect as a local resident, 64-year old Stephen Craig Paddock. The gunman, who police confirm is dead, opened fire on the crowd from his 32nd-floor hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
The investigation is still active, and police are asking anyone with information or videos/photos of the shooting to call the Federal Bureau of Investigations at 1-800-CALLFBI. Police have not yet identified all of the injured and deceased but have worked overnight and are asking the public for patience.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said President Trump was briefed on Monday morning.
“The President has been briefed on the horrific tragedy in Las Vegas. We are monitoring the situation closely and offer our full support to state and local officials. All of those affected are in our thoughts and prayers,” Sanders said.
President Trump has announced that he will address the nation today from the White House and tweeted his condolences to the family after being briefed this morning.
