On Thursday, the largest band in the history of recorded music will have their songs available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play. Leaving many millennials asking “Who are the Beatles?”
Fusion’s Kevin Rose tried to help Gen-Y by informing them on some important Beatles facts. They’re the predecessor of One Direction, four guys — John Lennon, Paul McCartney (the same guy from that song with Kanye West and Rihanna), Ringo Starr, and George Harrison — who came from Liverpool, England.
They didn’t have any Twitter followers and were popular in the 1960’s releasing tons of hit records (a record is a collection of songs like on a playlist).
There biggest songs included “She Loves You” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” but also had big hits like “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude,” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
A movie musical, Across the Universe, using their songs were made back in 2007.
While Rose wrote the article partially in jest, plenty of millennials do in fact not know who The Beatles are. When Paul McCartney teamed up with Kanye West for the song “Only One,” Twitter exploded with young people demanding to know “who was this old guy?”
Here’s a list of 10 old artists every Millennial should know because they changed the game and the way you listen to music today.
The Beatles – for all the reasons listed above.
Elvis Presley – King of Rock, original Eminem – a white guy did “black music.”
The Velvet Underground – Created Punk Rock.

The Beach Boys – They sold the California Dream to America
Bob Dylan – The lyrics and unfortunately the voice of a generation.
Little Richard – The architect of Rock & Roll.
