It’s not easy being a millennial. We’re a generation that came of age during the great recession, supported a President that campaigned on “Hope and Change,” but never delivered. And now we’re being defined as tech-savvy, socially conscious, self-absorbed, excusing failure, supporting feelings over facts, and incapable of carrying a conversation or eating a meal without using social media.
Case in point, a college student with the Twitter handle @Khaleesi decided to tweet on Wednesday how she took out $30,000 in student loans, earned a 1.03 GPA, was on academic probation, and gained 30 pounds. However, it didn’t matter because, as she puts it, she was still cute and had a glow.
-Ended w/ a 1.03 this semester✔️
-Gained 30lbs ✔️
-On academic probation✔️
-Took out $30000 in loans✔️
-Still cute doe✔️
-Still glo’in doe✔️ pic.twitter.com/5H7yhEJ92c— Khaleesi (@BeccaAbraham) May 11, 2017
Accompanying the tweet was a series of pictures that looked like she was Naomi Campbell modeling for a fall catalog.
The tweet quickly went viral and making matters even worse is that other millennials read that tweet and felt inspired by her. Khaleesi’s failures weren’t a concern. What mattered is how she felt and that she loved herself.
@BeccaAbraham Okay but seriously this is an inspiration to people who aren’t out here making 4.0 to just be happy and love yourself. You go sis ??

No, she’s not an inspiration. She took out $30,000 in student loans, earned no degree, and made matters worse by gaining weight.
It’s wonderful to have a healthy sense of self and to not feel defeated by a misstep, but don’t celebrate it. Make a plan, work at Waffle House, start paying down your debt, defer your payments, and go to community college to get a half decent job.
It bears repeating Khaleesi, posts like this give all millennials a bad name.
As Judge Judy always says, “Beauty fades, dumb is forever.” Get with it Khaleesi, for your own sake. And to all millennials, stop celebrating failure and mediocrity.
UPDATE:
Khaleesi reached out to Red Alert Politics and said that the whole tweet was just a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.
