Former President George W. Bush spoke to the graduating class of Southern Methodist University Saturday, using his time at the podium to defend religious liberty.
“It is essential to this nation’s future that we remember the freedom to worship who we want, and how we want, or not to worship at all is a core belief of our founding,” he said.
“…You can be hopeful because there is a loving God. Whether you agree with that statement is your choice; it is not your government’s choice,” Bush went on.
But not all of the speech was serious. Bush also joked about himself.
“As I like to tell all the C-students, you too can be President.”
