David Limbaugh: ‘It doesn’t compute’ to Obama that his policies don’t work

Barack Obama’s devotion to his liberal ideology dogma is in the way of his implementing policies that will get the nation out of the recession, according to columnist and author David Limbaugh, who spoke Tuesday at the Heritage Foundation’s  Bloggers Briefing.

Limbaugh discussed his new book The Great Destroyer: Barack Obama’s War on the Republic and shared his assessment of the Obama presidency.

He also criticized conservatives who lack his sense of urgency.

“I am really weary of people on our side of the aisle especially who downplay Obama, downplay his extravagance…If they are conservatives, they have blinders on because this is phenomenally bad,” Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh stressed that he does not think Obama is trying to bring ruin to America, only that the president “is stuck on this [liberal] ideology and…. That is all he knows, it doesn’t compute for him [that liberal policies do not work].”

He cited the bankrupt, government backed Solyndra and the president’s efforts to bring in unworkable “green” energy sources. He also noted the president’s unwillingness to accept outside advice discussing  the bipartisan deficit commission Obama established, whose advice he promptly ignored.

“[Obama] wants this economy to work,” Limbaugh remarked, but the president is “sucking oxygen out of the private sector” by printing money excessively and trusting the multiplier effect. The president and other liberals “seem to think that debt just doesn’t matter… You would think they would look at Europe and what is happening there [as evidence of the future of these policies],” he said.

“What is this idea,” Limbaugh asked, “That Obama didn’t spend enough time thinking about the economy? If he had more time, tell me what he would do? He doesn’t need one more second because he already knows what he would do.”

Limbaugh remarked that he would pay his cronies and backers off in a second term.

“I’m not a flamethrower by trade; I’m a flamethrower because the fate of the nation hangs in the balance…how can you not be passionate about this insanity?” Limbaugh said.  “I don’t know if [Obama] is trying to destroy America, I think he is trying to fundamentally change it… you don’t want to fundamentally change anything you love.”
