Jimmy Carter: Obama just got back from vacation, give him a pass on Paris absence

Well at least President Obama has someone on his side.

Former President Jimmy Carter stood up for Obama Monday, against criticism for the president’s no-show at the Paris Unity March. Obama has taken a lot of heateven from his own party, for failing to represent America at the march, which took place in the wake of a series of terrorist attacks in France.

But Carter’s reasoning is absolutely laughable.

“I don’t think there’s any need for criticism,” Carter said, as quoted by the Wall Street Journal at a press conference for the Carter Center.  “The president sometimes can’t go where he’d prefer to go. He’s just come back from vacation so I think he’s probably got a lot on his desk.”

This is the same extremely taxing vacation where Obama enjoyed a $300 per person meal at an exclusive club and where his golf game forced the relocation of a military wedding.

Plus, unfortunately for Carter and Obama, he wasn’t taking care of the work “on his desk.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest admitted that they should have sent someone to the march and that both Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were simply enjoying a day off at home at the time of the march.
