Rep. Sean Duffy: ‘But first … #letmetakeaselfie’

Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) is the king of the congressional selfie, and boy did the congressman earn his crown in a new video that offers no shortage of, well, selfies.

A recreation of the popular music video and song #Selfie, Duffy showcases all of his own #selfies with everyone from his children to constituents to the military’s top brass and his colleagues on the other side of the aisle.

“I’m jumping on a trend to try to engage my younger constituents,” the former Real World: Boston cast mate told Mashable. “They need to know that a lot of what’s happening now will impact their futures. If taking a ‘selfie’ with the chair of the SEC, Steny Hoyer, or Alzheimer’s research advocates, gets their attention, then it’s worth it. Plus, it’s fun.”

And Duffy’s approach seems to be working.

Cassie Smedile, a spokeswoman for the congressman, told Red Alert Politics constituents who visit Duffy often forego taking a tradition photo in front of his office and opt for a selfie instead. The office has also seen a lot more action on Duffy’s social media accounts, too.

Kudos to the congressman for embracing his inner Millennial.
