Tweets with George Zimmerman’s address resurface

As jury deliberations continued for the George Zimmerman trial — and now after the ‘not guilty’ ruling — tweets have resurfaced broadcasting the Sanford, Fla., man’s believed-to-be-address.

Director Spike Lee retweeted to thousands what he thought was Zimmerman’s address after 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed in February, but now Twitter users advocating justice for Trayvon have circulated the message once more.

The message includes the address of an innocent couple and a call to action saying things like “y’all know what to do” and “he gone [sic] learn today.”

Lee hasn’t been involved in this new batch of tweets, but the message has managed to go viral once more, getting retweeted thousands of times. However, the address named isn’t actually Zimmerman’s.

According to the Seminole County Property Appraiser, the home belongs to David and Elaine McClain, an elderly couple who have a son named William George Zimmerman. Lee’s original tweet mobilized a mob to descend upon the couple’s home several months ago, and the New Black Panthers offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who captured Zimmerman “dead or alive.”

Now, as Florida’s WFTV reported, the couple fears what will happen to them if Zimmerman walks free.

The 28 year old was on trial for shooting and killing Martin. The all-female jury began deliberations Friday and reached their ‘not guilty’ verdict late Saturday night. The shooting occurred in Sanford, Fla., but Zimmerman’s trial has dominated the airwaves of national news networks — from MSNBC to Fox News — for weeks.
