Kelly, Rubio expose Trump’s lies about Trump University

In Thursday’s Republican debate, Marco Rubio again targeted Donald Trump for the failure and controversy of Trump University.

Again, Trump struggled to dismiss the issue, with moderator Megyn Kelly fact-checking the candidates’ claims.

Rubio has been effective in keeping Trump University in the news since he mentioned it in a debate last Thursday. Trump hasn’t had much luck in convincing his critics that he didn’t engage in fraud and censor critics.

“There’s a difference between flexibility and telling people whatever you think you need to say to get them to do what you want them to do. And that’s what Donald has done throughout his career. That’s why Trump University is so relevant here,” Rubio said to drive the point home Thursday.

Trump dismissed Rubio, stating that Trump University had a “98 percent approval rating” and “an A from the Better Business Bureau.”

After Trump and Rubio spoke over each other, Kelly stepped in to “bring the viewers up to speed.”

“The rating for the Better Business Bureau was a D-,” Kelly said.

The exchange showed Rubio and the candidates attempt to attack Trump beyond name-calling and dispute his character. Trump offers few policy details, so they can’t point out his flawed policy ideas. They have to target his character.
