The Rev. Al Sharpton is at it again, getting involved in something else that has absolutely nothing to do with him. This time it’s the 87th annual Academy Awards.

Sharpton was furious that there were no black nominees in any of the acting or directing categories this year and decided to make it all about him.

“I have called an emergency meeting early next week in Hollywood with the task force to discuss possible action around the Academy Awards,” he said, as quoted by Business Insider.

Sharpton said he agreed with the Academy’s decision to honor civil rights era film “Selma,” but called the move “ironic” in light of the other nominations.

“The lack of diversity in today’s Oscar nominations is appalling and while it is good that Selma was nominated for ‘Best Picture,’ it’s ironic that they nominated a story about the racial shutout around voting while there is a racial shutout around the Oscar nominations,” he said. “With all of the talent in Selma and other Black movies this year, it is hard to believe that we have less diversity in the nominations today than in recent history.”

He even cracked a joke about the state of the industry.

“The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets.”
