Though he may not be leading in the polls, Bernie Sanders is winning in one very popular corner of the internet, joining the ranks of his fellow presidential hopefuls and utilizing online media to garner votes.
His virtual stomping grounds? Reddit.
For those not familiar with the viral site, Reddit is a social networking community which allows users to submit content to be “upvoted” or “downvoted.” For those looking for particular content, the site is divided into single topic “subreddits” which users can subscribe to.
Sanders, who is 73, is dominating the site with over 80 subreddits dedicated to electing him, with the primary subreddit “r/SandersforPresident” seeing an incredible 100,000 subscribers.
This means that there are a lot (over 203 million monthly visitors) of 25-34 year-old tech savvy potential voters upvoting “Sanders for President.”
Though he’s no “social media manipulator” (yet), Sanders is proving a worthy opponent to the Clinton steamroller, drawing massive crowds and riled-up supporters.
