Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) may love “The Simpsons,” but the feeling is not mutual, according to the show’s creators.
The Republican presidential candidate detailed his love for the show during an interview on The Federalist Radio Hour Thursday, reciting lines from two of his favorite episodes of the cartoon television series.
Cruz described the episodes entitled “Round Springfield” (1995) and “Treehouse of Horror VII” (1996) as his favorites.
The latter features the aliens Kang and Kodos taking over the bodies of Bill Clinton and Bob Dole.
But famously liberal showrunner Al Jean did not seem to appreciate his show’s longtime political fan. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Jean used the “Treehouse” episode against Cruz.
“To paraphrase Kang, ‘Ted Cruz?’ Go ahead, throw your vote away,” Jean said.
