New Obama Video Paints Romney as Ruthless Capitalist

The Obama campaign is once again attacking Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital with a new 6 minute video about another company that had to close and lay off hundreds of employees as a result of Bain’s ruthless, profit-seeking work ethic.

The video features the Bain-owned paper company, Ampad, which bought up a plant in Marion, Indiana and fired all the employees, about 350 people.

“I really feel in my heart that people need to know what Mitt Romney did to Marion, Indiana in 1994,” says a woman in the beginning of the video.

“One day we had jobs and the next day we didn’t,” says another employee in the video. “We understand if you have to cut back and lay off, that’s part of the business…but you just don’t come in and take everything everybody’s got and destroy a business.”

This video is the second in a series released by the Obama campaign called “Romney Economics,” as part of an effort to smear Romney’s record in job creation and economic growth. The first video, released last week, was about another Bain-owned company called GST Steel which did a similar thing to a plant in Missouri.

The Obama campaign plans to host a conference call with former Ampad employee, Randy Johnson at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
