Donald Trump has been talking about appealing to Bernie Sanders supporters for months now, and his campaign is using Sanders’s words about Hillary Clinton to court them.
The video, “Bernie Sanders endorses Crooked Hillary (Reluctantly),” is a compilation of Sanders criticizing Hillary for her Super PAC and her Wall Street connections, as well as questioning her foreign policy judgment, particularly the Iraq War.
A constant in the video is a clip of Sanders saying “I don’t think you are qualified” to Hillary.
The video has the feel of a presidential campaign ad appealing to those who feel betrayed by Sanders, not Trump’s usual ranting about “Crooked Hillary.”
Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson also appealed to voters by using Sanders’ endorsement of Hillary. Like Trump’s, his video referenced Hillary’s foreign policy record. A recent Pew poll has Hillary leading with millennials, with Johnson in second place.
