At one frozen yogurt chain, ‘cups’ are more than just containers for your dessert.
The company, cleverly called Cups, seems to be utilizing the successful business strategy of the sports bar Hooters — hiring hot, busty women to peddle the product.
The female staffers wear tight tank-tops and t-shirts that read “Size matters. Fill your cup.”
As BuzzFeed reported, the stores are also known for their techno beats and club-like atmosphere.
“It’s more of a club like experience with an edgy vibe,” Rick Barbrick, CUPS co-founder, said in 2012. “We have loud dance music with lighting and murals that give us a look and feel that is very different from the normal yogurt bar or ice cream shop. Our edginess has drawn crowds and celebrities, such as the one of the Jonas Brothers and the stars of television reality show Jerseylicious.”
“We don’t sell frozen yogurt, we sell an experience,” the website boasts.
The company, which was started in 2010, already has 12 stores in New Jersey and New York, and six additional stores are set to open, including one in California, according to the website.
And while the female-focused business model might deter some from frequenting at Cups location, the company also gives back. Earlier this year, two Cups staffers also participated in a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in New Jersey. Several other staff members repped the brand by handing out “Cups bucks,” according to the company’s Facebook page.
