When comedian Jimmy Fallon took over The Tonight Show on Monday, he won the bet he’d made with a friend who doubted his ability to helm the program. So that friend — or, rather, multiple friends — stopped by to pay up.
During Fallon’s first time hosting the show, he thanked his fans for their support and joked that his naysaying buddy now owed him $100. Then from backstage came a string of A-list stars carrying cash, including singer Lady Gaga, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani — who thanked Fallon for bringing the show back to the East Coast — and fellow late-night jokester Stephen Colbert.
The crowd went wild as each new celeb appeared and paid up, some adding signature humor or flair to their presentations. Colbert especially went to great lengths to play up the slapstick.
“Welcome to 11:30, b**ch!” Colbert shouted after taking a selfie with the new host.
By the end, Fallon had raked in quite the paycheck.
