Jon Stewart had some choice words for CNN, which spent Saturday night hovering over the red carpet for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and talking about Lena Dunham–while only forty miles away, Baltimore was torn apart by violent protests over the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray.
“Why are we watching this meaningless circle jerk?” Stewart demanded.
“The worst part is how incredibly aware, yet simultaneously dismissive they were,” he said, rolling tape of CNN correspondents telling people they could just check Twitter for Baltimore news.
He also had a lot to say about the paltry $89,000 in “scholarships” for which the dinner supposedly raises money.
“You ate more than that in shrimp,” he said. “Donald Trump has probably got more than that hidden in his hair.”
