Ron Swanson was the breakout star of Parks and Recreation, known for his libertarian politics and love of bacon, whiskey, and brunette women. Nick Offerman, the show’s actor, shares his character’s appreciation for a strong whiskey but is not for limited government.
The actor is fairly liberal. However, he learned about big government red tape when he tried to open his own whiskey distillery.
Offerman released a series of videos about his experience of opening his whiskey business. In the third episode released on May 18, the actor has to go through a series of phone calls where government bureaucrats demand everything from a background check to getting his last name trademarked, which they had a problem with. He also had to get both a permit and a license.
After looking over all the paperwork and government interventions, Offerman figures out that it will take 23 years before he can produce his first bottle of whiskey.
Like the Kennedy family and bootleggers before him, Offerman decides to move his whiskey business to the black market, just to prove that big government sucks.
