To feminists, nothing is sacred–not even the Lisa Frank notebooks of your childhood.
Someone running a now-viral tumblr by the name of “Feminist Lisa Frank” has desecrated your fond memories of the designer’s signature neon frolicking creatures, and plastered angry things about THE PATRIARCHY all over them.
The site’s mantra? “dismantling the patriarchy one rainbow kitten at a time.”
Yikes.
Most of the media, for some reason, is currently in love with the site. “‘Feminist Lisa Frank’ is somehow even better than the original” raves Mashable. “The ‘Feminist Lisa Frank’ Tumblr Is As Awesome As It Sounds,” says MTV.
Many of the posts are weirdly violent, giving the designs a nightmarish quality. The Instagram caption for this, for example, was “#translation: LISTEN TO US OR WE’LL F–K UP YOUR S—T”:
There’s much talk of revolutions and rebellions:
But for the most part, it’s all just rambly and confusing:
I’m guessing by “holistic concept” they just mean “don’t define it at all because any definition that doesn’t include literally everything is offensive” but I’m really not sure?
There are, naturally, a lot of hysterical things about how men are the worst. “MEN ARE AFRAID THAT WOMEN WILL LAUGH AT THEM,” reads one. “WOMEN ARE AFRAID THAT MEN WILL KILL THEM.”
Even men who want to be feminists are somehow upsetting them? This one could probably use more details.
…mmk.
Alas, given the left’s love for making everything offensive, even this tumblr has already slipped up and revealed its cisgender privilege.
After posting a meme referencing Parks and Rec’s “ovaries before brovaries/uteruses before dudereses” line, one concerned fan noted that this is not appropriate for a “trans inclusive feminist blog.”
“Feminist Lisa Frank” was quick to apologize for failing to think about “a not cisgendered perspective.”
Thank goodness!
