During the debate, Ted Cruz was given the chance to discuss the criticisms of Chief Justice John Roberts.
In expressing how other judges ought to be nominated in place of Roberts, by George W. Bush, Ted Cruz made an interesting point though. Had Roberts not been on the Supreme Court, Obamacare would have been struck down. He also noted that the 50 states would have been able to decide marriage laws.
While Cruz has a point about Obamacare, it is worth wondering why he chose to speak about the marriage decision. Chief Justice Roberts did vote, at the last minute, to uphold ObamaCare, but voted against legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states.
Cruz also spoke of how if he were president, justices “will not act like philosopher kings, imposing their liberal policies…”
