Hillary Clinton appears on Ellen’s season 13 premiere week

Hillary Clinton is not doing so well in the polls, and she’s trying to make up for that. This came not only in the form of an apology for her server, but her carefree appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ TV talk show.

While appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show during the season 13 premiere week, Hillary boosted her image by answering tough questions, such as what she thought about Kanye West running. Hillary told Ellen that she “would only ask him, if I’m running for re-election, to wait.”

During Hillary’s appearance on the show, Ellen took the opportunity to praise her:

I want someone who is qualified, and I feel like when you’re talking about–if I look at all the other candidates, someone who is for rights across the board, equal rights for women, equal rights for every ethnicity, equal rights for everyone, it is–the only person I can look at, is you.

After tearfully thanking Ellen, Hillary mentioned “it’s just a reality that we’re held to a higher, different, double standard.” She also encouraged “all these wonderful, beautiful, young women who are here.”

Hillary said that she wasn’t asking people to vote for her because she is a woman, but rather one of her merits was that she is a woman. Hillary’s appearance in some ways played more like a campaign rally, one which took on a feminist angle at times.

Ellen did speak about not being a political person though:

I am not a political person. I don’t like politics, I don’t understand politics. What I–what I am is a human being who wants everyone to have equal rights. And I hate ‘us and them.’ I hate don’t like ‘someone is a Republican so they’re bad, they’re a Democrat so they’re bad.’ I want inclusive, I don’t want exclusive. I want everyone to get along, I want everyone to want a common goal of a better country, and to not piss off anymore countries. I want us all to want to be loved.

Despite her own partisan statements she has made attacking Republicans, Hillary naturally agreed and nodded along with Ellen’s points.

Other questions included what she wants her granddaughter to call her. She said she’d be fine with “grandma” or “Madame President.” She also was asked what she sang to her daughter when she was a baby.

While Ellen pointed out that if elected, Hillary would be one of the oldest presidents, she also offered a way out by asking “don’t we want experience more than anything, isn’t that important?”

Hillary has been criticized before for not being too open. For those who want to hear Hillary offer answers, they may have to settle for such appearances as her one with Ellen, if she decides to make more of them.
