Reader Picks: Top Stories of 2014

Published December 31, 2014 7:58pm ET

2014 was a weird year.

And while most political sites are busy highlighting the oddest moments in politics this year — recalling everything from Secret Service failures to Eric Cantor’s big loss to President Obama’s 200th golf game — we are letting our readers do the talking. Or rather…the clicking.

These were your most viewed stories each month and it is a wide range of topics. Mostly we just learned that our readers love to love Rep. Trey Gowdy (R- S.C.) and love to hate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D- Mass.).

January -It was all about the Super Bowl. Politics never entered the equation, unless you count voting for your favorite Super Bowl commercial.

February – We all met at the intersection of politics and entertainment — “Saturday Night Live.” Or, in this case, you could argue at the intersection of political correctness and entertainment

March – That time when former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Rep. Justin Amash had a Kanye West/Taylor Swift/VMAs moment…

April – What’s better than President Obama getting caught promoting Samsung through a selfie? A “SNL” parody of that occasion

May — A liberal filmed her abortion and put it on the Internet in a sad attempt to show a “positive abortion story”….Wow.

June — True American Brad Paisley takes on the Westboro Baptist Church and it was pretty perfect.

Westboro Baptist Selfie!! Or west-Burro(ass) selfie. Hopefully they can hear the show out here. We’ll play loud.

JulySen. Elizabeth Warren gave the line that would become her obnoxious rallying cry on student loan reform, “Billionaires or students.” Commenters taught her a lesson on that so-called strategy

August — Liberals shot guns for the first time and found out that guns aren’t inherently evil. Grab the popcorn…

September — Who knew the liberal hatred toward conservatives could run this deep? Calling it “blood money,” she used Rush Limbaugh’s tips to help fund abortions.

October — Rep. Trey Gowdy is never one to mince words or to bow to political correctness.

NovemberShe said what? Like Obamacare didn’t come with enough problems this year…

December — Too bad Gowdy’s not interested in the Speaker gig.

Happy New Year!
