Trey Gowdy jokes about ‘the real crime’ in his run-in with DC authorities over AR-15

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) is taking his recent spat with the DC authorities in stride.

Earlier this week the D.C. attorney general’s office tried to investigate Gowdy and his friend Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) for taking this picture with Buck’s inoperable AR-15:

They were concerned because ““It is illegal to possess an AR-15 in the District.” As it turns out, Buck had already received permission from the U.S. Capitol Police to keep the “patriotic paper weight” in his office, and the Capitol Police have since confirmed that members of Congress are allowed to have firearms in their office, and may transport them unloaded.

Gowdy appeared on “Fox and Friends” to discuss the whole ordeal, where he joked, “As I look at that photo, the real crime is the suit that I have on—more so than the holding of an inoperable gun after you received permission from law enforcement.”

“Ken got every form of permission you can possibly get,” he said.
