Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush have something in common

Awkward.

Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush appear to have something in common: Namely, their involvement with the for-profit education company Academic Partnerships.

According to The Intercept, the company paid Clinton $225,000 — notably $75,000 less than her usual required speech fee — to deliver remarks at a private event in Dallas, Texas, on March 24 of last year.

Also in attendance at the event was Jeb Bush, who coincidentally both invested in and served on the board of Academic Partnerships starting in 2011. Bush has since resigned from his post at the company in preparation for his forthcoming bid for president in 2016.

According to the company’s website, Academic Partnerships “helps its partner universities increase access to higher education through technology and give their brands a global presence.”

Apparently, Rand Paul may have had a point when he suggested that Clinton and Bush are chummy. Earlier this year, the Kentucky senator and GOP presidential candidate released a fake phone call between Hillary and Jeb in an effort to troll the two 2016 contenders for belonging to political dynasty families.

The two just may have quietly forged a friendship. After all, George Bush considers Hillary a “sister-in-law.”
