Didn’t get enough Halloween horror on Thursday? Youth-focused organization Generation Opportunity released an extra dose of scary on Friday when it revealed the winners of its Creepy Uncle Sam government intrusion video contest.
David Pasch, communications director for GenOpp, told Red Alert Politics that 144 applicants took part in the contest. The rules stipulated that each entrant was required to use the Creepy Uncle Sam mask in their video and show a way the federal government intrudes on people’s lives.
The first place video, “Ride On Creepy Uncle Sam” created by Mario from Pennsylvania, won $5,000. It depicts Sam wearing a bright orange suit and encourages young people to ride on their own trails, instead of taking the path the government wants them to.
In second place was the humorous “Creepy Uncle Sam Breakup” video from Gabrielle from Utah Valley University. Rounding out the top three was “Creepy Uncle Sam – He’s in Your Pockets” by Elijah from the University of North Georgia. The second and third place winners will be given $2,500 and $1,000, respectively.
Jestin from Full Sail University, Justin from Virginia and Laurel from Georgia were all given honorable mentions and $500.
Creepy Uncle Sam was first introduced by Generation Opportunity in September. The original videos were designed to show young people the horrors of government-run health care.
