The “Weekend Update” portion of the most recent “Saturday Night Live” episode found comedians Michael Che and Colin Jost poking fun at the political news of the day.
In particular, Che mocked Rev. Al Sharpton for his outrage at the fact that the nominees for the 87th annual Academy Awards do not include any black individuals in the acting or directing categories.
“The Rev. Al Sharpton has called for an emergency meeting of his diversity task force after no actors of color received Oscar nominations,” explained Che. “As a side note, I’ve got to say the ‘Al Sharpton Diversity Task Force’ sounds like a kick-ass Saturday morning cartoon.”
Moreover, co-host Colin Josh couldn’t resist taking a few shots at former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney for the recent rumors surrounding his potential third run for the Oval Office.
“Mitt Romney is reportedly running for president in 2016,” Jost narrated. “In a related story, Charlie Brown is planning on finally kicking that football.”
“When Romney told the news to a group of donors, they starting chanting, ‘Run, Mitt, run!'” the comedian added. “Incidentally, ‘Run, Mitt’ is also how you boot up Romney’s operating system.”
The two SNL personalities also mocked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Pope Francis and opponents of gay marriage in the spot.
