TMZ and other liberal news outlets blasted model Karolina Kurkova last week — not for snorting a line of coke or spending a night in jail — but for donning a gun-print dress.
According to the TMZ piece titled “KAROLINA KURKOVA YOU’RE FIRED for Gun Print Dress,” Kurkova “hit the streets in NYC in the high-caliber, low-taste outfit — seemingly oblivious to the fact police had a deadly gun battle last night with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.”
“Either Karolina’s been under a rock … or she just doesn’t give a crap,” the story read.
Oh, and the gossip news-site called her a “vapid bubblehead.”
The New York Daily News also called the outfit “an insensitive choice in the days after the failed assault weapons ban bill and a nation was still raw about both Newtown and Boston.”
Huffington Post followed suit, asking the question, “What message do you think a supermodel sends when she steps out emblazoned with weapons and smiling?”
These media outlets must not support the freedom of expression or the right to bear arms.
But lucky for them, the model was actually making an anti-war statement.
Dress designer Nili Lotan told the Daily News the design was “against war and not anything to do with the personal use of guns.”
Kurkova echoed Lotan’s response on her Facebook page last week.
“The dress I am wearing in the photo is an anti-violence dress,” she said. “I am hoping that people will see this and know that there is no room in the world for violence on any level. My apologies to anyone that was offended. I had no intention of offending anyone. I am a strong believer in non-violence.”
Looks like even Victoria’s Secret angels can’t pull off every fashion trend.
