In an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity on Thursday night, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump once again refuted claims that Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus lectured him during a phone conversation.
Priebus’ camp said in multiple interviews that he told the billionaire to tone down his rhetoric on immigration, The Hill reported.
“I just don’t know how the story got out. Nobody called us for verification and honestly, I can’t blame him unless he gave out the story, which is possible. Probably he did,” Trump said on Hannity.
He admitted to the show’s host that he did have a phone conversation but stated it was brief and mostly positive.
“He called, Sean, very simply to say, ‘unbelievable’ – that he has never seen anything quite like it, and he just couldn’t have been nicer,” he said to Hannity.
A recent PPP poll showed Trump was leading the crowded Republican field in North Carolina.
