Media Diverts Attn from Obama Debacles with ‘Republican War on Women,’ Trayvon Coverage

Since President Barack Obama took office, unemployment  and deficit spending are up and the national debt is increasing by nearly $5 billion per day. Americans are worried about the economy and pushing back against government intrusion into health care and religious matters. So, what is the administration to do in election year? Divert attention. With the media apparatchiks working overtime for Obama, they have spread some recent distractions.

First there was the “War on Women.” This began when Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke testified before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee in support of the Obamacare’s contraceptive coverage. As a Jesuit-run school, Georgetown University does not offer contraception in their health insurance. Fluke testified that students and employees at religious hospitals and universities “have faced financial, emotional, and medical burdens as a result.”

When the Right pointed out that they are free to choose other places to study and work, and more information came out about Fluke, the Left had to change the narrative fast.

The discussion simply couldn’t be about separation of church and state, which is only allowed the storyline to go one way. One poorly chosen word from Rush Limbaugh and the “War on Women” meme was born: “slut.” Rush Limbaugh called Fluke a “slut,” and he shouldn’t have. However, the Left’s reaction, and the media’s willingness to craft coverage of the comment into a “Republican War on Women” was absolutely stunning to behold.

These reactions were obviously disingenuous. Similar furor was suspiciously absent when Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut;” when David Letterman used the forbidden “slutty” regarding Sarah Palin; and when Bill Maher called Palin the “c” word or “t” word. There are countless examples, and the media overlooks them. The “War on Women” was a tough sell in the face of such obvious hypocrisy but, with the media only reporting half of the story, it did catch on briefly.

To keep we plebeians distracted, the Left needed to feed the media another story. Enter Trayvon Martin and exploitative race-baiters. Martin was dead for nearly a month before the media created national racial issue. The media went ahead without facts about the victim or the accused, and people listened.

Last week, Obama injected himself into this local criminal matter to allege racism and, as per usual, the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton jumped in. Martin’s death is being shamelessly exploited to some extent to argue against the second amendment, but mostly to encourage racial division.

While some call for due process, it was largely assumed that shooter George Zimmerman was nothing but a racist gun nut who should be under arrest or even dead. The New Black Panther Party has gathered a posse and offered a bounty for him, and Zimmerman, his parents and an innocent elderly couple have been put in very real danger. These are people who have actual intent to do someone harm, something not proven in Zimmerman. After all, the eye witness says that Martin was attacking Zimmerman when he was shot, and in America, a person is presumed innocent.  Why aren’t the New Black Panthers  people called out by Obama and the media and investigated? Meanwhile, the media is playing right into this racist narrative which is not backed by any evidence.

Once this story unfolds, many will forget all about the tragic death of a young boy, just as the hubbub over the “Republican War on Women” has subsided.

After all, I’m sure there is another shiny story waiting in the wings to distract voters from the administration’s latest debacles. In the meantime, Obama’s reelection campaign gurus can only hope we pay no attention to the facts behind the media’s curtain.
