Gohmert throws down the gauntlet, challenges Boehner for speaker: ‘It’s time for a change’

Look out Boehner, Louie Gohmert is coming for you! And the people are clamoring for him—or at least Sean Hannity is.

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) first declared Saturday that he would  challenge Boehner, leading Gohmert to announce Sunday on Fox and Friends that he will also throw his hat in the ring.

“We have heard from a lot of Republicans that, ‘Gee, I would vote for somebody besides speaker Boehner.’ But nobody will put their name out there,” Gohmert said. “That changed yesterday when my friend Ted Yoho said ‘I’m putting my name out there.’”

“There have been numerous examples of problematic Republican leadership, but we were hopeful our leaders got the voters’ message,” Gohmert continued. “However, after our speaker forced through the CRomnibus by passing it with Democratic votes and without time to read it, it seemed clear that we needed new leadership.”

What would a Gohmert speakership look like? It would ”fight amnesty tooth and nail. We’ll use the powers of the purse. We’ll have better oversight. We’ll fight to defund ObamaCare…there will be plenty of time to read the bills.”

Gohmert also suggested that “hopefully there may be more” candidates. We’ll be accepting bets on who the next rebel could be!
