President Obama’s press conference Thursday about lowered expectations and his own shortcomings over Obamacare sapped some of the juice from ‘Yes We Can!’ — and Jon Stewart is wondering where it all went.
“The Daily Show” host had some jabs for the president as Obama turned to a refrain of “it’s on me” for the early problems of his signature health care law. “I think I said early on when I was running, I am not a perfect man and I will not be a perfect president,” Obama said Thursday. Stewart wasn’t biting.
“That wasn’t the slogan you campaigned on, “Stewart said sheepishly. “I think when you campaigned you were all, ‘Yes We Can!’ I don’t remember the other slogan being out there.”
An altered image with a banner reading ‘Pobody’s Nerfect‘ behind Obama at a campaign event flashed on the screen.
Stewart also tweaked the president for backing off of the administration’s vows that Healthcare.gov would be working properly by the end of November.
“Let me be clear,” Stewart said, impersonating Obama. “When I said ‘end of November,’ I did not say which November.”
