Cosmo’s ‘Future Female President’ list is missing one thing…

Cosmopolitan magazine just released its list of “7 Women Who Could Be Our First Female President.” Aside from their potential to be the first female president, readers have noticed something else that all of the women have in common — every single one is a liberal.

The popular women’s magazine picked out 5 Democrat Senators – Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, Tammy Duckworth, Kamala Harris, and Kirsten Gillibrand – as potential future presidents. Lean In author and former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg brings some star power to the list, along with Oprah Winfrey.

However, Cosmopolitan notes that both media mavens have publicly stated they do not plan to run for office. It doesn’t matter that Sandberg and Winfrey won’t seek the job; Cosmopolitan still thinks they could be President.

The same holds true for Warren. Author Rebecca Nelson writes, “Like other politicians, [Warren] publicly denies that she will run for president but she’s been ticking off the ‘run for president’ checklist, making speeches to key constituencies…and releasing a book about saving the middle class.” In addition, Gillibrand is already on the record ruling out a 2020 presidential campaign. Senators Harris, Duckworth, and Klobuchar gave polite, polished, perfectly non-committal answers when asked about a future presidential run.

It is interesting to note that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi didn’t make the cut. Neither did Hillary Clinton, showing that Cosmopolitan doesn’t expect the third time to be the charm for any hypothetical Clinton campaign. It’s almost like they’re saying, ‘out with the old, and in with the new… even if the new refuses to run.’ In fact, Cosmopolitan’s list amounts to nothing more than left-wing, political fan fiction.

And why skip over any and all conservatives?

It’s not like the right side of the aisle lacks women with political talent and ambition. Congresswomen Mia Love, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Cathy McMorris Rogers, and former Senator Kelly Ayotte all show great promise – and those are just a few of the conservative women in Congress. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Carly Fiorina, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Governor Susana Martinez could all make compelling candidates.

Yet not a single one of these women made the list.

Cosmo’s liberal female candidate wish list does imply a surprising perspective on President Trump, however. Nelson ends the piece by praising Oprah, saying “she might just be the kryptonite the Democratic Party needs to defeat the President.” Now if Oprah is kryptonite, that makes the Democrats Lex Luthor, and President Trump… Superman — probably not the metaphor Cosmopolitan was going for, but interesting nonetheless.

When Cosmopolitan shills for the left, they ignore a large section of American women. In fact, 42 percent of American women voters voted for Donald Trump. Lists like these are out of touch with almost half of Cosmo’s potential readership. With bad strategy for a women’s magazine, it seems as Cosmo’s audience engagement is as bad as their metaphors.
