Red Alert Politics Editor Ron Meyer joined Fox Business’ Mornings with Maria to discuss Obama’s speech on his efforts (or lack thereof) to defeat ISIS.
I feel like he is just trying to win a war of talking points. We heard that there is no new action — I feel like it was just another speech… Maybe people don’t want to send more troops overseas, but they are looking for some sort of new approach — some sort of new dynamic.
Beyond offering nothing new, the President also took what should have been a unifying speech and inserted the divisive gun control issue.
If you look a the two big priorities that he has tried to lay out for the rest of his administration — it’s global warming and gun control… That speech could have been a unity speech. He could have tried to unite the country, but then he threw this in there. Whatever it is, whatever the issue, he’s trying to get back to his two big issues to finish off his term, and that’s unfortunate. That, even in a speech like this — his third address from the Oval Office — that he is trying use a speech like this to divide the country.
