Sarah Silverman: Unborn babies are just ‘goo’

Abortion activist Sarah Silverman has become a outspoken defender of a woman’s right to choose, and on Friday episode of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the comedian talked about her crusade for women’s reproductive rights and called unborn babies “goo.”

While talking with Maher, the comedian recalled participating in a November fundraiser that aimed to raise money for abortions in Texas, and told the host about a conversation she had with protesters from the Westboro Baptist Church who were there.

“Just so that they see a human face to this side that they only know as ‘people who want to murder babies,'” Silverman said of her decision to confront the protesters. “Meanwhile, it’s goo. It’s goo that they’re so worried about. And they’re born, and it’s you’re on your own, slut.”

Silverman went on to discuss her own experiences — or lackthereof — with abortion, and said that while she supports women’s reproductive rights and abortion, she loves babies.

“And the truth is, and I don’t like to admit this, I’ve never had an abortion. And I don’t know if I would,” she said. “But, it doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t fight to the death for women to make their own choices for their own human bodies. It would never fly the other way around.”

In the 2007 Comedy Central show “The Sarah Silverman Program,” the comedian joked about having three abortions during the Reagan, Clinton and Bush administrations.
