In an interview with Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R) Tuesday night, Fox News host Megyn Kelly pressed the likely presidential candidate on Jeb Bush’s announcement Tuesday that he will “actively explore” running in 2016.
“Some people are saying, ‘C’mon, senator. Make a decision,'” Kelly told Paul. “Why is Jeb Bush out ahead of you?”
“Well, maybe he has more ground he needs to gain,” Paul speculated, throwing a little jab at Jeb. “He’s been out of this for a while, so maybe he needs to get back in and practice up a bit. I don’t know. I can’t determine why other people, I just know what I’m going to do and that’s wait a few more months.”
The Fox News host then questioned Paul on his previous assertions that it would be difficult for a supporter of the Common Core education standards to win a Republican primary, calling them a “direct shot” at Jeb Bush.
Bush, of course, has openly backed Common Core.
“For Jeb Bush to run in the primary will be very, very difficult,” Paul began, “because if you’re going to be for a national curriculum and for Common Core and for No Child Left Behind, this accumulation of power in Washington, that’s not very popular.”
