Obama has some advice for Kanye West

President Barack Obama and possible 2020 presidential candidate Kanye West both appeared at a DNC fundraiser in San Francisco on Saturday. CNN reported that Obama had some advice for Kanye, on running for president, but also for Speaker of the House.

Obama tried his hand at some comedy, and showed that he was well-versed in Kanye, as his advice shows:

You may have heard of this, Kanye is thinking about running for Speaker of the House. It couldn’t get any stranger. But in case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS thing — or as he calls it ‘peezy’ — I do have advice for him, some stuff that I’ve picked up on the way.

First of all, you’ve gotta spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show. So you gotta be cool with that.

Second, second, this is an important second tip. Saying that you have a ‘beautiful dark twisted fantasy,’ now that’s what’s known as ‘off-message’ in politics. You can’t say something like that. There are lots of people who lost their Congressional seats saying stuff like that. You don’t do that, that’s number two.

And number three. Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago, with a funny name, to be President of the United States? That is crazy! That’s cray!

While he has performed at DNC events, Kanye West has also spoken highly of Republican Ben Carson, and about a desire to work with people rather than run against them.
