“It’s a trap”: Conservative millennials give dating advice [VIDEO]

Red Alert Politics interviewed young conservatives at the CPAC on Saturday to ask them what it’s like to date as a right-wing millennial on the college campus.

Almost all of them agreed that it was important to date someone of a similar political mindset, because it coincided with other values.

“First of all, you need to find a woman who’s a conservative,” said a CPAC attendee. “Because it’s a pain in the neck dating a liberal, I’ve done it before, and it’s a trap. I guarantee you.”

A girl volunteering for Turning Points USA confessed that her boyfriend was a Bernie Sanders supporter, and because she was socially liberal they often didn’t run unless healthcare or gun rights were brought up.

“Healthcare and gun rights,” she said. “He’s really like ‘there needs to be so much gun control’ and for me it’s our Second Amendment, so it’s hard for me to go along with that.”

They all agreed that it was hard finding someone of similar political persuasions on the college campus and that college Republican groups and church groups were an excellent resource.

When asked about the values they look for in a relationship, the answers varied significantly.

Several of the girls were looking for a man with strong faith who also had their lives together — a job, a home, a life goal. The men, on the other hand, had much more basic demands like honesty, patience, understanding, and communication.

Many of those guys are going to be looking for a long time.
