Liberals want Donald Trump banned from Twitter

Progressives have successfully kicked a plethora of people off of Twitter they find offensive and abusive. Feeling that the social media platform is still not a safe space, social justice warriors have set their sites on the biggest target yet: President-elect Donald Trump.

Liberals took to their respected blogs, newspapers, and television stations to demand the President-elect be banned from Twitter for being abusive.

Sonny Bunch wrote in The Washington Post on Tuesday that Trump’s tweet to punish people who burn the American flag was a bridge too far and deserves to be stripped of his account.

The WaPo writer admits that Trump isn’t the only politician that has wanted to punish people for burning the flag. And he isn’t even the loudest critic against curtailing so-called “hate speech.”

Yet, Bunch insisted in his op-ed that Twitter should ban Trump for the sake of the country and the media.

“Like Pavlov’s dogs salivating over every ding, we cannot help ourselves when it comes to the president-elect’s Twitter feed,” Bunch wrote.

The media acts like a wife-beater. They had to freak out because they were triggered by Trump like Mr. Smith had to beat his wife because dinner was cold and well, it just set him off.

Kate Knibbs, a staff writer for The Ringer, wrote a similar article on Wednesday saying that Trump’s using Twitter to promote his fascism.

“…Some of his tweets violate the revamped policy, both by direct harassment and by inciting hate speech,” Knibbs wrote. “And more broadly, the president-elect has chosen Twitter to serve as a conduit for authoritarian political propaganda.”

She also insists that Trump should be banned for claiming misinformation like the idea that millions of illegal votes were cast in this year’s election.

This snowflake fails to understand that if Twitter were to ban all the media outlets that falsely reported information about Trump, then most major publications would be banned.

Remember when The Washington Post lied by asserting that Trump said veterans with PTSD were weak? Or remember when that same paper’s writer Philip Rucker disingenuously insinuated that the president-elect referred to Mexicans as “poison?” Or what about when CNN added the word “racial” when Trump was just discussing profiling even though he never said the word?

All these outlets, and much more, could have been charged with spreading false information and inciting tension and riots.

Writers like Knibbs would never be thoughtful enough to find blame in the same sources that employ people like her.

This effort on their part has nothing to do with defending people from misinformation, stopping fascism, or protecting the public as a whole. They don’t like Trump. He is more influential than Knibbs, and they need to silence dissent.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Sonny Bunch disputes the claim that he is a liberal. Calling for censorship and writing for the Washington Post can easily lead one to get confused.
